My Instructions

Directions for Shape




  1. Create a rectangle with its top left point at the origin (0,0) and dimensions 4 inches long by 3 inches high

  2. Finish sketch and extrude the shape outward by 1 inch

  3. Click bottom view on the little cube thingy in the top right corner and you should see a rectangle

  4. Set the fillet tool to a diameter of 0.5 inches and use it to fillet the left and right sides of the rectangle you see

  5. Switch to front view from the cube thingy

  6. Click and the front face and press “s”

  7. Create a rectangle with the rectangle tool starting from point (4, -1) and ending at (0, 0)

  8. Click finish sketch and extrude the rectangle 4 inches

  9. On the cubey thingy, click top view but rotate the shape using the arrows so that the text “top” on the cube is upside down

  10. Click on the face and hit “s”

  11. Make a circle with center at point (4,-2) and diameter two

  12. Make another circle with center at point (0,2) and diameter two

  13. Make a rectangle starting at the top left corner of the original shape ending at the right edge of the first circle you drew; this rectangle should have dimensions 1 inch by 3 inch

  14. Make another rectangle starting at the top right corner on the original orange shape and ending at the left edge of the second circle you drew; this rectangle should also have dimensions 1 inch by 3 inch

  15. Click finish sketch

  16. Now extrude cut both rectangles and both circles that you just drew from the original shape (go all the way through)

  17. Switch top view, click the face and press “s”

  18. Make a circle at point (2, -5) with diameter 2

  19. Click finish sketch

  20. Now extrude the circle two inches INTO the shape ( be sure to click the first blue button and the second orange one)

  21. Switch to bottom view and click on the face and press “s”

  22. create a circle with center (0,0) and diameter of one

  23. Finish sketch and extrude cut this circle all the way through the shape

  24. Switch to back view, click on the face, and hit “s”

  25. Create a circle with center (-2, -2) and diameter 1

  26. finish sketch and extrude this shape 2 inches, NOT all the way

  27. U R DONE

2.1.6 Conclusion

1. So the other person knows exactly what the shape is and doesn’t make any mistake when recreating it
2. Following a classmates instructions was alot harder because sometimes you need more detail than what was provided, and sometimes you “over-constrain” your sketch by following the directions
3. An object’s mass is how much stuff is in it; its weight is the force of gravity pulling on the mass of the object. On the moon, the mass of an object stays the same but the weight changes.
4. Surface area is the area on the surface of a three-dimensional object
